What You Should Know about the Female Sexual Arousal Disorder

When it comes to female sexual health, sexual arousal is important. The inability to get sexually aroused is known as female sexual arousal disorder or FSAD and it is characterized by the inability to achieve or maintain the typical responses associated with sexual arousal. The factors that cause this problem are many and they include emotional or psychological factors like stress, anxiety and depression. Other factors include lack of trust and medical conditions like low hormone levels, nerve damage and reduced blood flow to the genitals.

Women who suffer from this condition are not able to complete sexual activity even if adequate lubrication is present. The condition is the result of the inability of the body to undergo certain psychological changes that are known as the lubrication-swelling response, which usually happens during sexual desire and stimulation. Normally when a woman is aroused, the blood vessels in the pelvic region expand allowing more blood to flow in the genitals. The increased flow of blood also causes fluid to seep through the blood vessel walls and provide lubrication to the vagina.

This increased flow of blood also produces certain changes in genital tissues that cause the upper part of the vagina to expand. This includes expansion in the cervix, clitoris and uterus and together, these changes make it easy for the penis to enter the vagina. Women with FSAD usually lack these responses and this affects lubrication. When this happens, the women lack lubrication and arousal, which results to painful intercourse. If you suffer from FSAD, you should not worry because treatments for the condition are available. The disorder’s treatment depends on its cause. One major cause of this problem is declining levels of hormones, which commonly happens with aging. In such a situation you can take care of the problem by using hormone replacement therapy or using non-prescription drugs that work in supplementing the female body’s natural lubrication.

Another product that you can use to treat FSAD is the Eros-Clinical Therapy Device. This is a small vacuum pump meant to perform a gentle sucking action when fitted over the clitoral area. The pump’s sucking action stimulates the flow of blood to the genital area and clinical trials have shown that using this device is safe and effective in increasing blood flow, vaginal lubrication and sensation.

FSAD is also treated psychologically and the focus of traditional psychotherapy is on relationship problems, communication and emotional issues. Psychological therapy also promotes problem-solving strategies.  Female sexual arousal disorder may also be as a result of feeling pain during the experience. Pain usually happens in various areas of the genital organs such as the labia, clitoris or vagina. This pain could be sharp, burning, stinging, cramping or bumping and it can either be deep or superficial. Sexual pain can be caused by various factors like vaginal infections, vaginismus, problems in the uterus and cervix, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, injury to the vagina or vulva and sexually transmitted diseases.

It is possible to treat many causes of physical pain that may lead to FSAD and some of them do not need medical intervention. Treating FSAD is possible by using female sex boosters that are usually in lubricant or pill form. They usually contain natural vitamins and herbs that work in increasing blood flow to the genitals. You can use such products if you suffer from FSAD.
