The Best Day Spa in Dallas

Woodhouse Day SpaDay Spa

There is nothing like getting a good facial. You see immediate results, and so does everyone else. One solution for consistently flawless skin is the Minkyti facial. For 80 minutes, your face becomes the focus. Lines around the lips? An anti-aging mask is applied for that. Overall dullness bringing you down? Cue the extractions. The crevasse between your eyes? A collagen boosting serum plumps that up in a flash. No matter what the issue, the Woodhouse aestheticians customize the approach for fast, pretty, and radiant results. An added plus: instead of leaving the room while your face absorbs masks and serums, the therapist stays and gives you a light arm, neck, and hand massage.

Pranaa Ayurveda SpaDay Spa

For more than 5,000 years, Ayurveda, a holistic East Indian approach to health, has healed people by balancing their mind, body, and soul. Just as more people in the West were adopting this approach, Pranaa conveniently opened its doors in 2007, and people in North Texas could get authentic treatments in their own backyard. Abhyanga, an indulgent massage during which the hands of two therapists rub therapeutic warm oils into your body, is supposed to have a healing effect on whatever ails you. Shirodhara, an hour of warm sesame oil slowly poured on your third eye, is said to clear the mind to elusive transcendental levels. A lucky byproduct of that oil? Leave it in your hair for a day, and your mane will feel the healthiest it’s been since its pre-blow-out days. Read more: The importance of vitamins for the human body in winter

Cooper Spa

Tucked away in the southeast corner of the Cooper Clinic’s 30-acre health complex in North Dallas is Dr. Kenneth Cooper’s namesake spa. Like everything else that the health and wellness pioneer promotes, the spa adheres to Cooper’s clean-living ethos. The popular Eminence Organic Custom facial uses only organic, all-natural scrubs and cleansers (“You could eat this stuff,” our aesthetician boasted). We highly recommend the VitaGel manicure, a long-lasting, no-chip mani that seals on color with glowing LEDs rather than the harmful, skin damage-causing UV light most other gel manicures utilize. The spa, aerobics center, and the dressing rooms were recently renovated. Milky-blue glass door lockers and glamorous gold chandeliers make for a serene, pretty space to prepare for treatments or use the steam room, sauna, and whirlpool. Hiatus Spa & RetreatDay Spa

Aptly named, this eco-conscious Inwood Village sanctuary takes us far away from the chaos we call life. Billowy white sheers are draped across the ceiling, a dimly lit relaxation room offers comforting tea, and services are kicked off with a foot soak and a choice of aromatherapy. For a little face TLC, book the holistic, results-driven Best Facial Ever with a plant-based peel and microcurrent treatment. For relaxation so good you’ll never want to leave, schedule a Monthly Retreat, a full-body exfoliation with sea salts and essential oils; Vichy shower, a warm rainfall rinse from the comfort of a massage bed; and a Swedish massage. If you can’t get enough, join the H-Circle members club. Starting at $59, the monthly fee gets you core spa therapies.

Halcyon Days Salon & Spa

If it’s your first visit to this tucked away subterranean spa, look for the descending spiral staircase in the cosmetics department (hint: it’s right by the elevators). We’re not going to make a “stairway to heaven” joke here, but if we did, it’d get laughs. Underneath the bustle of shop girls spritzing perfume is a soothingly chic little world with curved walls and warm, glowing light. Here you can have makeup done, waxing, and the normal array of spa procedures, but we personally prefer one of its standouts, the Polish Body Treatment. An easy pick-me-up, this full-body exfoliating buff leaves skin ultra smooth and firmer than before, all without having to break a sweat.

Spa NordstromDay Spa

This day spa that prides itself on outstanding customer service has two locations, one up north, inside the Dallas Galleria, and the other in central Dallas, at NorthPark Center. They both have the same in-depth menu of services—oxygen facials, detoxifying body wraps, lash extensions—but what has generated the most buzz here is the airbrush tanning. In a matter of minutes, a skilled technician will prove that you don’t need a weekend in Tulum for a convincing sun-kissed glow. Strip down to some paper undies and a technician’s hand sprays your body, transforming it from Elmer’s Glue white to a yummy bronze. Guests can also opt for a body exfoliation, which is said to extend the life of the tan.

Coldwater Creek the spa

If you’re familiar with this chain’s namesake clothing stores, you know that its spas exude a comfortable, everywoman atmosphere. It’s not sexy. It’s not progressive. It’s just easy and accessible, the spa equivalent of a bowl of chicken soup. If a full recharge is in order, go for the Renewal Spa Day Package, an impressive five hours that include a hot-stone massage, body exfoliation, facial, and mani/pedi combo. Thinking five hours is too much? It’s not.

Spa Habitat

Amid the contemporary shops and Mambo, Taxi-guzzling West Village-goers is this eco-friendly oasis. The signature treatments include an organic massage with organic oils, reflexology, and hydrating foot and hand treatments, and a signature facial with chemical-free exfoliation, cold-stone eye treatment, and warm-stone massage. But our personal favorites are the Green Peace Massage (even better for two) and the healing Herbal Back Therapy with an arnica and St. John’s Wort scrub, a heated wrap with muscle balm, and a deep tissue massage. But you can’t go wrong with anything here. Even a Brazilian is made tolerable with a gentle wax made of natural beeswax, pine resin, essential oils, and lanolin. Arrive early for a cup of hot organic tea and a warm, herb-scented neck pillow in the relaxation area. If you fall in love with the tea or the in-house Clovertree products during the facial (you will), you can shop them in the fully stocked apothecary surrounding the reception desk.

Grand Spa

The sheer size of Grand Spa (all 13,000 square feet) allows it to offer treats other spas can’t. Like seven pedicure chairs, two Vichy showers for hydrotherapy, couples’ rooms, and huge waiting areas filled with soft sofas and chairs. It’s an ideal scenario for group outings. The spa will even rearrange furniture and set up mimosa bars upon request. (During one visit, we considered joining the bridal party dipping strawberries in a chocolate fountain.) Locker rooms, changing areas, treatment rooms, and saunas are kept meticulously clean around the clock. Go ahead and spend the day. We suggest the six-hour Grand Spa Signature Package, which includes the Mediterranean Candlelight Signature Massage with warm oil from a melting body massage candle applied with seashells (just trust us), a facial, a manicure and pedicure, a blowout, and a spa lunch. But any one of those treatments would do, too. If you’re a product junkie, the boutique has all the lotions, potions, and beauty elixirs you need.

Facelogic

Facelogic is on a mission to put regular facial treatments on the map. To make it simple, Facelogic offers memberships. The Signature Membership costs just $49 per month and provides one 50-minute Signature Facial or Custom Massage and discounts on other services each month. If you’re looking for something more intensive, the spa’s latest fan favorite is the Image Peel series, packaged sessions of skin peels for dealing with acne, aging, and pigmented skin. The menu includes lighter peels for quick turnarounds or the Perfection Peel, a serious peel, the kind meant to remove every bad skin decision. For a multipurpose bang for your buck, give the Beauty Pass a try. It includes a quick facial with microdermabrasion and peel, express massage, teeth-whitening session, airbrush tan, brow wax, lash tint, and makeup application.

Adrift Float Spa

“Adrift” is not a metaphor. This spa is for floating. After slipping into a robe and slippers, prep your mind for an hour-long float in a zero-gravity massage chair. A personal cabin with a shower and float tank filled with 10 inches of water and 1,200 pounds of Epsom salt will be waiting for you. You’ll undress, rinse off, and lie in the tub like you’re atop the Dead Sea. Underwater colored light therapy and music are optional. Words of caution: salt stings. Don’t shave prior to your float, and liberally apply the complimentary Vaseline to nicks and sensitive body parts. Adrift suggests an hour of floating is worth four hours of sleep. We don’t know about that, but we do know that one hour of complete peace and quiet is invaluable.
