Our heart is at the centre of our circulatory system, which consists of the heart, arteries, veins, blood vessels and blood cells. It consists of four chambers, two on the left and two on the right. The two chambers in the upper part of the heart are the atria, and the bottom two chambers are the ventricles. The two sides of the heart are separated by the septum, which is a wall of muscle.

The right side of the heart receives blood that has less oxygen in it as the oxygen has been used by the brain and the organs of the body. The blood is then pumped into the lungs, where it receives oxygen. The blood then travels back to the heart, where it is then pumped back out to the brain and the rest of the body.
